The hummus experts speak of a spectrum, the "hummus spectrum". They say if the mostly Arabic / Jaffa style of hummus is at one end of the spectrum, then Tanami's hummus probably constitutes as the farthest one on the other end. They're both great, they're both hummus, but somehow also very different.

Although Tanami is marketed as Yemenite style hummus, we couldn't find any strong evidence to suggest that. However the owner is probably from Yemen, so that has to count for something.

So what makes this hummus special? Besides the unbeatable creamy texture, this place has some unique world class toppings. You should definitely get the eggplant and mushrooms, and some extra tehini. We'll leave the rest up to you. And if you're feeling adventurous this place is famous for "Hamshuka" which is "Shakshuka" (eggs with tomato sauce mainly) and hummus, though we wouldn't recommend it to first timers.

Like with most top hummus places, if you plan on showing up on Friday for lunch, be ready to stand in line. Well, almost a line..
